There are so many people who dream of building an awesome real estate portfolio, quitting their dull 9-to-5, and making a living with real estate. But, the problem is that far too many people keep doing the thing that keeps them broke and stuck. Today I want to kick this in the butt and get it out in the open.
Your dreams deserve a front row seat in your mind and in your life, so make sure you do not make this same mistake as you build your real estate portfolio.
Are You Destroying Your Real Estate Portfolio by Doing This?
So, the other week I was at my local REIA meeting in Knoxville, and I was so excited to hear one of the speakers there. This woman, Stacy, focuses her real estate investing strategies on commercial land options where she rents out the land and some storage units on the land. It was awesome!
She was chock full of information. Not only did she completely break down exactly how to make money from land, how much it costs, the taxes, etc, she also went into full detail about the monthly income and profits she gets too.
My mind was GOING. I was pacing back and forth in the back listening and probably looked like a caged lion. There was so much running through my mind about the possibilities and questions and everything. It was fantastic information and I just knew that there would be some incredible questions asked by everyone, too.
There were a few of us who saw the amazing opportunity in front of us that night. But, there were way more people in the room who said the one thing no serious investor should ever say: “Yeah, but….”
This woman had just shown all of these people how to make roughly $7000 EVERY month and out came the “yeah, buts.” It was like they were one word: yeahbut.
“Yeahbut…how much does it cost to have the trash removed when people don’t get their stuff?” “Yeahbut…what will this do to my taxes this year?”
I. Was. Floored.
These people were literally handed the keys to the kingdom and could change their entire lives with just ONE deal!
But, they were killing their momentum and destroying any chance of success with their “yeahbut.”
I went from being super high to pretty pissed off, honestly. Y’all, this entire room of people stopped their own success before they even got started because of this stupid little mindset.
What is wrong in your head that you want to stop forward movement and success before you even start? Why do you throw these stupid yeahbuts at the people who are building their real estate portfolios instead of learn HOW they are doing it?
Why do you think that it could not work for you, but only works for everyone else who is doing it?
Anytime and every time you say “yeahbut”, you’re done. You just killed it. Throw your dream away; you just gave it up for free.
Even in this room of real estate investors, the best in the area, there was not a single one in the room who owned storage units besides Stacy. Yet, everyone had an opinion. And even to this day, I doubt that any of them left that room and decided to go get a storage unit to add it to their real estate portfolio.
I approached her afterwards and told her she was a rockstar. She handled it all PERFECTLY. And, let’s be real y’all, I have no social graces left. If I meet someone in the grocery store or wherever, I will be all up in your mortgage business and talking about your real estate portfolio before we even finish the niceties. That’s just how I roll.
And this woman owns seven businesses. We could have talked for HOURS.
Don’t let “yeah but” stop you from achieving your dreams.
Other people will always fear and terror when it comes to taking action. Keep your distance, but take action for YOUR dreams.
The REIA meetings and other places where you can learn are not meant to just give a constant stream of information, information, information. You need to put that information into ACTION! What good is all of that knowledge if it never does you any good?
It’s like going to church every weekend and not doing what you learn! It is selfish and pointless.
“Yeah but” does not make you any money.
Take massive action and get to work if you really want to make that money, honey, and build your real estate portfolio.
I have no time for “yeah but” people, y’all. You want to get stuck in that mindset, see ya. There are plenty of fish in the sea, and a whole lot of people who are really serious about creating passive income and learning how to do lease options.
The question you have to ask yourself is which one you are? Are you an information hoarder, or are you an action taker?
If you want to hoard, there are better places for you to be than wasting my time and your time. Good luck to you with all that.
Here’s the truth, and don’t ever forget it: “Can’t never could, and yeah but never will.”
The question is who are you?
I hope that you are a serious investor and ready to take action. Everything in me is praying that you are NOT a yeah but, but a go-getter.
You DESERVE the dreams in your head, but you HAVE to take action and stop getting in your own way.
